Why an online Certificate check?
All of my Limited Edition prints come with a Certificate of Authenticity so you can be assured you are receiving the genuine article. The online certificate check provides added protection by adopting some practices from computer security where two factors are used to verify authenticity; something you have (the certificate) and something you know (details related to the purchase).
All of my Fine Art Prints are produced on demand, and when I have reviewed the quality and determined they are good enough to ship, each Limited Edition print is assigned a unique code. This code is produced on the certificate and on a sticker that your framer can affix to the back of your print when it is framed. The online check here enables you to verify that the code on the certificate (or framed print if buying from someone else) actually matches an order in my database.
In accordance with my privacy policy, there is no personally identifying information stored online, but if you are on-selling my work, I would encourage you to get in touch. Provided I can verify you as the registered owner, I can annotate the record so that when your potential buyers check online here, they can see a personal message from you e.g. “Currently for sale on eBay by Jane Doe”. Once you have sold the work, I can then update the record so that the next owner gets the same protection benefits you do.
