This is the case with \u2018Eye See You\u2019. If I hadn\u2019t been observant, and studied a small detail which seemed slightly out of place, I would never have discovered the subject matter for this unusual image.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Bedroom window\" data-id=\"8042\" width=\"494\" data-init-width=\"494\" height=\"700\" data-init-height=\"700\" title=\"Bedroom window\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/01-large-window-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"494\" data-height=\"700\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 494 \/ 700;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In our bedroom, there\u2019s a small leadlight window overlooking our next-door neighbour\u2019s deck and back yard. In fact, our house has quite a lot of lead-light work (a product of the 1940s when the house was built, I suppose). I\u2019m a big fan of these types of windows, and love how the different textures of the glass can create a myriad of distorted shapes. I sometimes get in very close and enthusiastically peer through \u2013 not when my neighbours are relaxing on their deck of course!<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Air bubble on bedroom window\" data-id=\"8043\" width=\"700\" data-init-width=\"700\" height=\"467\" data-init-height=\"467\" title=\"Air bubble on bedroom window\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/02-mid-size-window-with-arrow-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"700\" data-height=\"467\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 700 \/ 467;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>On one occasion, in one of these \u2018up close and personal\u2019 moments, I started to pay particular attention to a small defect in the glass. I\u2019d noticed it before, but hadn\u2019t really given it a lot of thought. It was a small air bubble (check out the blue arrow in the photo above).<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Close up of air bubble\" data-id=\"8044\" width=\"600\" data-init-width=\"600\" height=\"600\" data-init-height=\"600\" title=\"Close up of air bubble\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/03-close-up-600-square-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"600\" data-height=\"600\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 600 \/ 600;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I started to move around in front of the window, bobbing my head up and down and from side to side, exploring this tiny bubble to see what effects I could conjure up. I was delighted to find that I could create a circular shape around the bubble itself if I positioned myself in the right spot.<\/p>\n<p>Deciding that this was definitely worthy of a photo shoot, I grabbed my camera and macro lens, and started experimenting.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Original in-camera shot\" data-id=\"8045\" width=\"433\" data-init-width=\"433\" height=\"650\" data-init-height=\"650\" title=\"Original in-camera shot\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/In-Camera-Eye-See-You-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"433\" data-height=\"650\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 433 \/ 650;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Many of the shots just didn\u2019t work, but this one was special. I\u2019d managed to capture what looked like a slightly surreal and mysterious eye\u2026 looking back at me!<\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/artworks\/269\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"'Eye See You' - Abstract Photography by Jane Trotter\" data-id=\"8040\" width=\"450\" data-init-width=\"450\" height=\"450\" data-init-height=\"450\" title=\"'Eye See You' - Abstract Photography by Jane Trotter\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Eye-See-You-450-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"450\" data-height=\"450\" data-link-wrap=\"true\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 450 \/ 450;\"><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For the final image, I decided to crop into the shot to exaggerate, not only the eye, but also the textures created by the glass.<\/p>\n<p>My hope is that the viewer will imagine the weather-worn hide of some unidentified creature &#8211; place the \u2018eye\u2019 within a \u2018body\u2019 and bring the whole image into \u2018life\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Imperfection can be an opportunity in disguise.
