Fortunately, the stars aligned for \u2018Birth of Colour\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"8061\" width=\"367\" data-init-width=\"367\" height=\"650\" data-init-height=\"650\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/glass-vase-650h-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"367\" data-height=\"650\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 367 \/ 650;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This very striking, triangular glass vase was a Christmas present from many years ago. I enjoy its interplay of shapes and colours and how the patterns on the rear sides of the vase spill through behind the side you\u2019re looking at, giving extra depth and visual complexity. <\/p>\n<p>One morning I\u2019d placed the vase on the kitchen benchtop, and the bright sunlight streaming through the window, and into the vase, made for a very vivid and intense display of colour.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"8062\" width=\"505\" data-init-width=\"505\" height=\"650\" data-init-height=\"650\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/mushroom-solo-650h-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"505\" data-height=\"650\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 505 \/ 650;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wanting to utilise this, I went hunting for something which I thought would be a good candidate to absorb and potentially distort these rich colours. I hit upon this quirky little glass mushroom.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"8063\" width=\"433\" data-init-width=\"433\" height=\"650\" data-init-height=\"650\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Vase-and-Mushroom-650h-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"433\" data-height=\"650\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 433 \/ 650;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Placing the mushroom in front of the vase, I could see immediately how the vase\u2019s intricate patterning was being reflected. There seemed to be one area, in particular, where the effect was most pronounced.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"8064\" width=\"700\" data-init-width=\"700\" height=\"393\" data-init-height=\"393\" title=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Vase-and-Mushroom-close-up-700w-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"700\" data-height=\"393\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 700 \/ 393;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be concentrated around the tiny air bubble. This was too good to miss! I grabbed my macro lens and started experimenting.<\/p>\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Original Image for 'Birth of Colour'\" data-id=\"8065\" width=\"433\" data-init-width=\"433\" height=\"650\" data-init-height=\"650\" title=\"Original Image for 'Birth of Colour'\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Original-Birth-of-Colour-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"433\" data-height=\"650\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 433 \/ 650;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Original image for &#8216;Birth of Colour&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>There was much trial and error as I moved myself around, trying to find the best vantage point. Eventually, I discovered that if I got very low and looked almost directly across the top of the mushroom, I could capture the effect of multiple colours slowly oozing out of the \u2018dome\u2019 bubble.<\/p>\n<p><span><a href=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/artworks\/202\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Birth of Colour - Abstract Art by Jane Trotter\" data-id=\"8058\" width=\"450\" data-init-width=\"450\" height=\"450\" data-init-height=\"450\" title=\"Birth of Colour\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/abstractedreality.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Birth-of-Colour-450dimension-jpg.webp\" data-width=\"450\" data-height=\"450\" data-link-wrap=\"true\" style=\"aspect-ratio: auto 450 \/ 450;\"><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Imagining some cosmic, primordial soup at the beginning of creation, I fancied I was witnessing \u2018light and colour\u2019 coming into existence and spreading across the universe from this singular and precious point of origin.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Birth of Colour\u2019 was \u2018born\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve always liked to experiment with different objects, and pairing disparate items together in ways which maximise their photographic potential is one of my favourite challenges.
